Allah is the best planner

May 06, 2008 By: Raf Category: Articles

Here is an interesting article I found at www.challengeyoursoul.com May it benefits all the readers.

The story of how I reverted to al Islam is a story of plans. I made plans, the group I was with made plans, and Allah made plans. And Allah is the Best of Planners. When I was a teenager, I came to the attention of a group of people with a very sinister agenda. They were and probably still are a loose association of individuals who work in government positions but have a special agenda - to destroy Islam. It is not a governmental group that I am aware of, they simply use their positions in the US government to advance their cause.

One member of this group approached me because he saw that I was articulate, motivated and very much the women’s rights advocate. He told me that if I studied International Relations with an emphasis in the Middle East, he would guarantee me a job at the American Embassy in Egypt. He wanted me to eventually go there to use my position in the country to talk to Muslim women and encourage the fledgling women’s rights movement. I thought this was a great idea. I had seen the Muslim women on TV; I knew they were a poor oppressed group, and I wanted to lead them to the light of 20th century freedom.

With this intention, I went to college and began my education. I studied Quraan, hadith and Islamic history. I also studied the ways I could use this information. I learned how to twist the words to say what I wanted them to say. It was a valuable tool. Once I started learning, however, I began to be intrigued by this message. It made sense. That was very scary. Therefore, in order to counteract this effect, I began to take classes in Christianity. I chose to take classes with this one professor on campus because he had a good reputation and he had a Ph.D. in Theology from Harvard University. I felt I was in good hands. I was, but not for the reasons I thought. It turns out that this professor was a Unitarian Christian. He did not believe in the trinity or the divinity of Jesus. In actuality, he believed that Jesus was a prophet.

He proceeded to prove this by taking the Bible from its sources in Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic and show where they were changed. As he did this, he showed the historical events which shaped and followed these changes. By the time I finished this class, my deen had been destroyed, but I was still not ready to accept Islam. As time went on, I continued to study, for myself and for my future career. This took about three years. In this time, I would question Muslims about their beliefs. One of the individuals I questioned was a Muslim brother with the MSA. Alhamdulillah, he saw my interest in the deen, and made it a personal effort to educate me about Islam. May Allah increase his reward. He would give me dawaa at every opportunity which presented itself.

One day, this man contacts me, and he tells me about a group of Muslims who were visiting in town. He wanted me to meet them. I agreed. I went to meet with them after ishaa prayer. I was led to a room with at least 20 men in it. They all made space for me to sit, and I was placed face to face with an elderly Pakistani gentleman. Mashallah, this brother was a very knowledgeable man in matters of Christianity. He and I discussed and argued the varying parts of the bible and the Quraan until the fajr. At this point, after having listened to this wise man tell me what I already knew, based on the class I had taken in Christianity, he did what no other individual had ever done. He invited me to become a Muslim. In the three years I had been searching and researching, no one had ever invited me. I had been taught, argued with and even insulted, but never invited. May Allah guide us all. So when he invited me, it clicked. I realized this was the time. I knew it was the truth, and I had to make a decision. Alhamdulillah, Allah opened my heart, and I said, “Yes. I want to be a Muslim.” With that, the man led me in the shahadah - in English and in Arabic. I swear by Allah that when I took the shahadah, I felt the strangest sensation. I felt as if a huge, physical weight had just been lifted off my chest; I gasped for breath as if I were breathing for the first time in my life. Alhamdulillah, Allah had given me a new life - a clean slate - a chance for Jennah, and I pray that I live the rest of my days and die as a Muslim. Ameen.

Usrah - Tawakkal

April 30, 2008 By: Raf Category: Activities

This has been our topic for this week’s circle. As usual, Ade Te and Encik Jauhari were hyped up with the meeting with their fellow brothers. One, thought that he was late, end up coming about half an hour earlier than everyone else without shoes (but He put the socks and slippers on though) and another one came with some bananas and chocolate muffins - which later taught me the words “there is no catch”.

Here are some parts of the article that we have discussed about, with some editings.

Tawakkal

It’s examination season. Everybody is busy studying and revising what has been taught to them over the period of the academic year. For the more hardworking ones, it is all about revisting all those neural connections which they have established upon first encountering the syllabus contents. For the less fortunate, this period is a frantic combination of some revising and a lot of learning. No matter the state one is, one fact stands out - everyone is at this moment hard at work.

From Ummar ibn Al-Khattab, Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said :

“If only you relied on Allah a true reliance, He would provide sustenance for you just as He does the birds: They fly out in the morning empty and return in the afternoon with full stomachs”

Ahmad, An-Nassaa’l, Ibn Majah, Al-Hakim and At-Tirmidhi who said : “Hassan sahih”

The writer later uses birds as an example of how human life is totally on our God’s hand. Birds, he describes, go out every morning journeying sometimes great distances from their nests, just looking for food. In each and every journey, the writer implies that by Allah will, the birds can go through all sort of obstacles. Hunter’s shotgun, speeding car, absence of food and many more. However, should Allah decided not to let the birds escaped from all of these, they would likely end their life there.

The same applied to human being, the writer continues. We, human are all at the mercy of Allah’s will. We are like life puppets and Allah is the puppet-master. He controls everything, from the fate of the spectacles we are wearing, to the banana or the chocolate muffin we are eating (told you there is a catch), right down to every bacteria that is living in our stomachs. It is true that we do have intentions and desires, but that is because Allah let us to have it.

We might want to achieve first-class honours, so we burn every minute we have when we are awake to study and and to revise. However, if suddenly we were hit by car, or shot by burglars, or even fall from our bed, badly injured and unable to do all that, who do we really go for help?

Tawakkal. Depending on Allah. That’s the reality of all. We are at the mercy of Allah’s will. Which is why, tawakkal is one of the very important aspects of a Muslim’s faith. Allah says,

“…and in Allah should the faithful (Ever) put their trust” [3:122, 5:11]

“…victory will be yours, and put your trust in Allah if you are believers indeed” [5:23]

How do we do this? We do it by having firm belief that only Allah can give us helps and everything happens by his will. We would believe that everything happen to us is planned by Allah for our own benifits, be it good thing or bad. These thought will give us strength to face hardships. When we sincerely depend on Allah we would feel tranquility in our hearts because we know that Allah is on our side.

For example, Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) took his wife Hajar and his son Ismail to the desert (near Makkah), as ordered by Allah. When Hajar saw him leaving her, she wanted to know if it was an order from Allah. Ibrahim answered , ‘Yes’. So she put her trust in Allah, so do Prophet Ibrahim, and was sure that He would take care of them. Indeed, all help and power are from Allah and they survive.

My Brothers and Sisters,

Lets fully rely on Allah during this upcoming exams and insyaAllah, with doa and efforts, Allah will will make it easy for us. Salamualaik.

Salamualaik,

A forum has been installed along with the site. I’m not sure how well it will work. (I don’t even really know how it work) So, lets give a try. There’s no need for forum rules I think, so hopefully everyone could bear with it, for now :)

The link to forum can be find at the Link section on the right sidebar.

http://www.kotp.org/forum/index.php

Also, I have no knowledge in maintaining a forum. Thus, any volunteers are welcomed. We are also welcoming any kind of contributions. Whoever wish to be writers, moderators, admins are also welcomed. Send an email to the_wanderer_ryu@yahoo.com or you can just leave a comment here. Jazakallahukhair.
