Rick Franks was born and raised in Columbia City, Indiana. After five years in the banking industry, Rick felt God’s call to the ministry and left Indiana to attend Montreat-Anderson College in North Carolina, where he received his B.A. in Family Science in 1988. He attended Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi and graduated with his Master of Divinity with an emphasis in Christian Education in 1993. Rick was ordained as a Teaching Elder (Pastor) in the Presbyterian Church in America in 1994 and ministered in Johnson City, Tennessee and Lutz, Florida before joining the staff of Heartland Community Church in Wichita in September of 2006. Rick began the work of planting a church in Andover in 2015 while working at Heartland Community Church. Then in August of 2017, Rick left Heartland with the blessing of the leadership to pursue the work of Kirk of the Plains full time. Rick and his wife Robbie are the parents of 7 children and 10 grandchildren.
