To Parents of Young Children
Welcome! We are so glad you are here and we would especially like to welcome those of you with young children. The best way for young children, to learn to worship God is to actually participate in the worship service. So we love having children in the service.
In order to make the most of your time with us, may we suggest the following:
Relax! Unlike many places, we want Kirk of the Plains to be a place where children are both seen and heard! So do not worry if your children wiggle in the pew or make a little noise. This is God’s house and all are welcome – especially the little children!
If you can, sit toward the front of the sanctuary where it is easier for the children to see and hear. Children, like the rest of us, tire easily from staring at the backs of other peoples’ heads!
Quietly explain the different parts of the service to your children so they understand what is going on.
Sing the songs, pray the prayers, and participate in the responses. Children learn how to worship by imitating you.
If you have to step outside of the sanctuary during the service, feel free to do so, but please come back! Your return is not an interruption.
To the Church Family
It is important that we remembers as a church that the presence of children is a gift to our church, and a reminder of God’s covenant promise to work through families. Please welcome our children and give a smile of encouragement to their parents. They probably need it!
